Japan remains Guanajuato’s main trading partner

According to the Secretary of Economy of the Government of Guanajuato, Japan continues to be the most important trading partner of Guanajuato, with 145 investment projects that exceed US$8.9 billion and have generated more than 48,140 direct jobs.

The state of Guanajuato, located in Mexico’s strategic Bajío region, has established itself as a key destination for major Japanese companies, with the presence of assembly plants such as Toyota, Mazda and Honda. In addition, an extensive network of automotive parts, components and service suppliers is present in the region, strengthening the local economy and industrial infrastructure.

Some of the Japanese Tier 1 suppliers located in Guanajuato include: Yusei Holdings, NKP, Mitsui High-tec, Minebea Mitsumi, Suminoe Textile, Tsubakimoto Automotive Mexico, Nippon Paint Automotive Coatings Mexico, Ashimori, among others.

These important investments have been distributed in different municipalities, such as Acámbaro, Abasolo, Apaseo el Alto, Apaseo el Grande, Celaya, Comonfort, Cortazar, Irapuato, León, Silao, Salamanca, San Luis de la Paz, among others, promoting sustainable regional growth.

Undoubtedly, the arrival of Japanese capital has promoted the creation of value chains that offer new opportunities for local companies, contributing to the strengthening and diversification of the productive fabric of the state.
