Companies from different segments are looking to establish themselves in Guanajuato Puerto Interior

The Guanajuato Puerto Interior Industrial Complex continues to consolidate its position as one of the most important industrial centers in Mexico, attracting investments that drive economic growth and job creation in the region.

Héctor López Santillana, General Director of Guanajuato Puerto Interior, said that there are some companies that are exploring land adjacent to the zone with the purpose of incorporating themselves into the services offered by this «dry port».

«There are some companies that are exploring and we know that there is a decree that authorizes Puerto Interior to no longer buy or sell surface, but if a company commits in the area around GPI to comply with the infrastructure of the services that we offer, they can be incorporated and we can provide those services and they can be incorporated into our community,» he said.

The interest of companies in this region is in response to the first-class infrastructure, strategic connectivity and favorable production and logistics environment that the State of Guanajuato offers.

In August 2024, construction began on the SINOBOOM plant, a Chinese company that has made an initial investment of $150 million for the construction of its plant, which will be located next to the Pirelli tire manufacturing complex.

Specialized in the global market of aerial work platforms, SINOBOOM was founded in 2000.

Lopez Santillana explained that there is a company that will begin the construction of its plant in the next few weeks, it is a commercializer of equipment and machinery for the construction industry. In addition, there are three other companies that are still in talks for their installation in this area.

“We have in short, a service company and industrial companies that will be joining the Puerto Interior community,” he said.

The expansion of Guanajuato Puerto Interior not only provides new employment opportunities for the local population, but also strengthens the manufacturing value chain in the Bajio region.

The creation of a land management plan is being considered

In order to ensure a harmonious coexistence between the communities surrounding GPI and the companies located there, the Organism of Guanajuato Puerto Interior (OGPI) is seeking to create a land use plan.

This initiative seeks to establish clear guidelines for the orderly growth of the area, taking into account environmental, social and urban aspects that allow for balanced development.

«Through this diagnosis, we have a whole work program that addresses the needs of infrastructure services, preparation of people or health services in the community,» he said.
